Welcome to the course on an introduction to boarding theory. I am Adrift Banerjee from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and I will be teaching this course coding theory deals with design of  error correcting codes. Error control coding is an indispensable part of a digital communication system when we transmit data over a communication medium the information can get corrupted due to noise interference and fading.

We use error correcting codes to recover back the data now in the first half of this course I will be talking about properties and design of linear block codes. I'll be talking about some simple linear block codes such as Hamming codes, reed-muller codes, and low-density parity-check codes. In the second half of the course I will be talking about convolutional codes. They are encoding, decoding and finally I will be talking about parallel concatenated codes called turbo codes thank you.
